Dear Families,

Today your child is bringing home:

  1. Fraction Math homework (not Standards Practice)

  2. Permission slip for Huntington Retirement Hotel

  3. School statements

Math chapter 6:  We have begun a new chapter in math today, adding and subtracting fractions. After today’s lesson, and in seeing the different needs of the students on this topic, I decided to send home some review homework (equivalent fractions) and leveled homework that students can choose from based on readiness.

For those students who would like a chance to increase their learning and improve their grade on the chapter 5 math test, the retake is this Thursday. Please note:

  1. Students will be retested only on the problems they missed.

  2. The problems will be similar to the types of problems missed.

  3. Students need to bring in their test by Thursday, signed by a parent acknowledging that their child has studied for the retake. Thank you!

Field trip this Thursday: Today your child is bringing home a permission slip for a walking field trip to Huntington Retirement Hotel, located around the corner from the school on Earl Street. This is a service field trip, where students will sing songs, talk with the residents and pass out gift bags. We are always so blessed by these special visits!

There is no school next Monday in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

This Friday is Jeans Day.

School Spirit Week is coming up from Jan. 27-31.  The schedule is as follows:

Monday: Pajama Day (YES! My favorite!)

Tuesday: Teams Day (Favorite sports team clothing)

Wednesday: Wacky-Tacky Day (What I normally wear should do it)

Thursday: Throwback Day (Dress from your favorite decade)

Friday: House Color Day (Harty: red, Ivins: blue, McKenzie: green, Penstock: yellow)

Please check our website for this week’s homework, including our memory verse and spelling words.

Have a great week!
